Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer has been a holy grail product for makeup lovers. It has become one of those products that every beauty blogger has only raved about. So to see how great it actually is, I decided to try it for myself. Is it worth being this top-rated concealer, let’s find out.

To test out the Maybelline concealer I bought it in 03 Fair shade. Luckily it matched well with my skin tone so the first step was a win.

Product Description

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is an easy-to-use super-concentrated concealer that instantly erases fine lines and dark circles. The prominent ingredients in this concealer are goji berry and Haloxyl which gives radiant and youthful freshness to the eyes.

How to Use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Now here comes the part that many first-time users of the concealer will find tricky. Maybelline has done its best to make it into the most convenient concealer ever. That means they have attached the sponge with the tube so you don’t even have to use your hands or a sponge if you don’t want to. However, getting the product out for the first 2 to 3 times will require a little bit of patience.

  • Twist the red part which is located right below the sponge clockwise
  • Keep rotating it til the product starts appearing on it
  • Once enough product appears apply it under your eyes
  • You can spread the product by using the concealer’s cushion tip

Packaging: Just like other Maybelline products, the packaging of this one doesn’t disappoint others. It comes in a glass tube which looks extremely sleek. The concealer has a transparent cap through which you can see the white sponge applicator. The glass tube is helpful in letting you know how much quantity of the product is left.

Scent: It doesn’t have a strong scent which is great. I always prefer products that aren’t too heavily scented.

Overall Experience

For such a highly-reviewed concealer my expectations were really high from it. This is why I decided to try it multiple times to write an authentic review and not just rave about it like everyone else. As mentioned earlier, getting the product out for the first 2,3 times is going to be a bit frustrating. I would highly suggest not using it for the first time when you are in hurry. It will only aggravate you when the product will take time to come out.

After I successfully got the concealer out after twisting the tube many times, then the real moment of truth came. I applied the sponge applicator gently under my eyes and the transfer of the product was rather smooth.

Once I got enough product on my skin, I blended it with the beauty sponge to see if it would have any different effect. If you are using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer with a full coverage foundation then it’s good to use a sponge or beauty blender for better results. However if you are using it for a more casual natural makeup look, then you can just the in-built sponge and it will also get the job done.

The concealer offers medium coverage and is great to use if you don’t have major dark circles. However, it doesn’t fully conceal the acne marks and pimples. It works best as only an under-eye concealer.

I applied the concealer at around 10 am in the morning and when I went home around 7 p.m, it was still pretty much intact. For me, this is its biggest selling point that it doesn’t require constant touching up. Also, it didn’t crease and set in the lines. Another good thing is it didn’t feel heavy or greasy which is often my biggest complaint with many concealers.

Final Thoughts

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer is a rather safe choice for a concealer. The product quality is good. In addition to that, it blends well and stays on for a long time. Seemingly it ticks all the boxes for a good concealer. It is undoubtedly a great drugstore concealer but it would be unfair to compare it to a high-end concealer.

Pros

  • Convinient Sponge Tip
  • Medium Coverage
  • Smooth application
  • Easy to blend
  • Long-lasting
